Dormitory or private room?

People searching for a hostel usually want one of two things: a low price, or a bed in a shared room. Here you get the first without having to accept the second. Every room is a private room with its own bathroom – no dormitories, no shared showers along the corridor, and we do not sell individual beds.

There is one exception: pilgrims with a credential can book a single bed in a twin or shared room. That is set out on our page for pilgrims.

What your money buys

There are two room types, and they differ only in size – choosing between them is a decision about floor area, not about fittings:

  • ·Budget room – 9 m², bed 160 cm wide, from €79.00 a night. Enough for a night or two of sightseeing.
  • ·Standard room – 15 m², bed 180 cm wide, from €99.00 a night. Worth it from the third night, or with a lot of luggage.

Both come with a private bathroom and rain shower, a TV, a safe, Wi-Fi at no extra charge and charging points by the bed. The rooms overview sets them side by side.

You come and go as it suits you: there are no keys to collect from a reception desk. 24 hours before you arrive we email you an invitation to check in online, and you then get an access code that opens every door. Your room is ready from 15:00 and yours until 11:00 on the day you leave, so a late train is not a problem.

Driving? The building has its own parking garage; a space costs €18.00 per day and is added to your stay.

The neighbourhood

Altona-Altstadt sits between the Elbe, Ottensen and St Pauli – close to everything you came to Hamburg to see, and quieter than the Reeperbahn. Königstraße station is about 300 metres away and served by the S1, S3 and S7; from there the airport, the main station and Altona station are all reachable without changing. The connections are on the directions page, and what to do nearby under Explore Hamburg.

Breakfast and food

Breakfast is served in Kibbel’s Kitchen, our café in the building: Monday to Friday from 6:30 to 10:00, Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 to 11:00. It costs €15.00 per person, is added to your stay rather than included, and is for house guests only. The open kitchen in the lobby keeps drinks and snacks available around the clock – useful if you arrive late or leave early.
